Former Timbers’ infielder dies

Former Wausau Timbers infielder Gary Shingledecker passed away this sumer at the age of 59 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.  Shingledecker was drafted by Baltimore in the 1989 amateur draft and played for Wausau during the 1990 season.  He appeared in 24 games, batting .243 with one home run and six rbis.  Following the 1990 season, Singledecker left baseball and returned to his home in Franklin, North Carolina, where he enjoyed a long insurance career.  He was inducted into the Franklin High School Athletic Hall of Fame two years ago, and at the time of his death, Singledecker was the assistant coach of the Franklin boy’s basketball team.
