Marshfield’s Daulton Varsho is recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist. Daulton was left off the Houston Astros’ post-season roster, and did not play in either of the Astros’ losses to the Chicago White Sox in the American League Wild Card series. He was acquired from Toronto at the trade deadline in July, but struggled in Houston because of that injury, batting just .172 with five home runs in 41 games. Daulton did, however, improve Houston’s defense with his play in centerfield. For the season, with Toronto and Houston, Daulton hit .221, with 12 home runs and 40 rbis. He is eligible for free agency this winter.
