Former Milwaukee Brewer catcher Charlie Moore died Saturday at the age of 72.  Moore joined the Brewers in 1972 and played for Milwaukee for 14 seasons, and then spent the 1987 season with Toronto.  He became the Brewers’ starting catcher when Darrell Porter was traded to Kansas City in 1977, and served in that role for five years before moving to the outfield in 1982.  Moore had a career batting average of .261, with 36 career home runs, and hit .300 in 1979, and .301 in 1981.  He played for Milwaukee in the 1982 World Series, batting .346.  In October of 1980, Moore became the first player in major league history to both hit for the cycle and steal two bases in the same game.  He also scored the run when Hank Aaron drove in the final run of his major league career in 1976.  After Moore retired from baseball in 1987, he returned to his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama and worked in sales for a fastener company.
