Olson leaves UW-Stout for Duluth head coaching position

Rice Lake native Brooke Olson is the new women’s  basketball coach at Minnesota-Duluth.  Olson played college basketball at Duluth, and was named the Division II Player of the Year in 2023.  Her Duluth team finished second that season at the NCAA Division II national tournament.  She then spent one season as a graduate manager at Minnesota, and the last two years worked on the women’s staff at UW-Stout.  The Duluth women’s  basketball team was 23-9 last season, advancing to the Division II Elite Eight.  After the season, Coach Mandy Pearson left Duluth to take the head coaching job at Division I St. Thomas of St. Paul.
