Marquette University has a new head coach for it's women's basketball program. That job goes to former Marquette assistant Cara Consuerga, who is leaving her position as head coach at Charlotte. Consuerga played college basketball at Iowa, and assisted former Marquette coach Terri Mitchell between 2004 and 2011. She then took the head coaching job at Charlotte, and compiled a record of 225-169 in 13 seasons as head coach. Her Charlotte teams also made six appearances in the WNIT. Consuerga succeeds Megan Duffy, who is leaving Marquette for the head coaching position at Virginia Tech.
