Marshfield Tiger Athletic Hall of Fame member Neil Fleming passed away earlier this month at the age of 85. Fleming played football and ran track at Marshfield in the mid-1950's. He lettered for the Tiger football team each year between 1954 and 1956, and was an all- conference first team selection, and all-state honorable mention in 1956. That season, Fleming rushed for 916 yards and eight touchdowns for the Tigers, and ran for 229 yards in one game against Merrill. He lettered in track for two years, and was part of the Tiger team that won the state championship in the 220-sprint medley relay at the 1957 WIAA state meet. Fleming then went to the University of Miami, where he was captain of the freshman football team in 1957. He transferred to Wisconsin, and played for the Badgers in 1960 and 1961. Fleming then served for many years as manager of USDA Rural Development in Medford.
