Finley has new role with Mavericks

Former Wisconsin Badger basketball standout Michael Finley will have a new role with the Dallas Mavericks this season.  Finley will serve as the Mavericks’ senior director of player, community and alumni engagement.  The Mavericks say Finley will provide support to the front office and focus on building relationships among Dallas players, alumni and the north Texas community.  Finley played college basketball at Wisconsin in the early 1990’s, and was chosen by Phoenix in the first round of the 1995 NBA draft. He played 15 seasons in the NBA, with Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio and Boston, averaging 16 points per game for his career.  He retired from the NBA in 2010 and has been with the Dallas front office since 2013.  He served for most of last season as the Mavericks’ interim co-General Manager.
