Former Milwaukee Braves outfielder and Atlanta Braves manager Eddie Haas passed away earlier this month at the age of 91. Haas began his major league career by playing in 14 games for the Cubs in 1857. He then played in nine games for the Braves in 1958, but missed the 1959 season due to injury. Haas came back and played in 32 games in 1960 to end his major league career. He played in 41 games over those two seasons for Milwaukee, batting .261 with one home run. Haas was a native of Paducah, Kentucky, and began his pro career in 1953, and continued to play minor league baseball through the 1964 season. Haas remained in the Braves organization as a minor league coach and manager, and served as Atlanta Braves manager for parts of the 1964 and 1965 seasons. After leaving the Braves’ organization, Haas scouted for many years for the Montreal Expos and Boston Red Sox. He was also the cousin of former major league catchers Phil and Gene Roof.
