UW-Oshkosh will reinstate its men’s soccer program in 2027, and the coach will be Titan alum Darren Gallagher. Gallagher played soccer at Oshkosh between 2001 and 2004. He has served for the last five seasons as head coach of the women’s soccer team at Mount St. Joseph College in Cincinnati. Gallagher is a native of Mukwonago, and has also worked on the soccer staffs at Colorado-Colorado Springs; Illinois-Springfield and Cincinnati. UW-Oshkosh played men’s soccer between 1984 and 2015, but dropped the sport because only three other WIAC teams fielded men’s soccer at that time, and the conference did not sponsor men’s soccer as a league sport. The sport is growing again in the WIAC, however, and by 2027 all conference schools except for UW-LaCrosse will field men’s soccer teams.
