Schumacher to retire at Ripon

Former Wausau-East High School sports standout Chris Schumacher will retire as Athletic Director at Ripon College on June 1.  Schumacher played football and basketball at East in the 1980s, and then played football at UW-LaCrosse.  He had a 33-year career in college athletics, with much of that time spent as Director of  Track and Field Operations at Illinois Wesleyan University.  Schumacher succeeded Ryan Kane as Ripon Athletic Director in June of 2023, and he oversaw several changes at Ripon, including the addition of Esports and women’s flag football to the Red Hawks program.  Schumacher plans to return to Illinois where his wife will continue her career as a fourth grade teacher.
