The Milwaukee Brewers are placing reliever Jared Koenig on the injured list with an elbow sprain, and recalling left-hander Shane Drohan from their Nashville farmclub. Koenig has appeared in three games for the Brewers this season and has not allowed an earned run in two-and-one-third innings of relief. He has pitched for Milwaukee for the last three seasons after pitching for Oakland in 2022. Koenig is 16-8 for his career, with a 3.34 ERA in 140 appearances. Drohan was acquired by the Brewers from Boston in the Caleb Durbin trade, and is 0-0 with a 5.40 ERA in one game at Nashville. He has never pitched in a major league game, but has pitched in the Boston farm system since 2021 after three seasons at Florida State. The Brewers are also finalizing their eight-year contract extension with minor league prospect Cooper Pratt. Pratt has yet to appear in a major league game, but he will receive a $2,500,000 salary this season, and that figure will increase to $13,000,000 for the 2033 season. The deal also includes club options for 2034 and 2035, each worth $15,000,000. Pratt has played in the Milwaukee farm system since 2023, and has a batting average of .260, with 16 home runs. He is considered a solid defensive shortstop, and also stole 31 bases in the minor leagues last season.
