Pittsville High School is changing coaches in it's boys basketball program. Longtime coach Mark Denniston will step aside this season, to be replaced by former Panther girls coach Stephen Hadfield. Denniston is a Pittsville graduate, who played on the Panthers' 1990 WIAA state tournament team. He coached the Pittsville girls between 2003 and 2010, compiling a record of 128-39, winning at least 20 games in four different seasons, and leading the Panthers to the WIAA state tournament in 2004. Denniston took over the Pittsville boy's program in 2015, and coached the Panthers for the last ten seasons, earning a record of 130-106, and winning 19 games in 2020. He also coached the Pittsville football team between 2014 and 2020, with a record of 34-30, and winning ten games in 2018. Hadfield coached the Pittsville varsity girls between 2013 and 2016. He is a native of Monticello and a graduate of UW-Platteville. Hadfield coached and taught in the Granton school district for two years before joining the Pittsville staff in 2011. He and his wife also coordinate the Pittsville youth basketball program.
