The Milwaukee Bucks are using their one selection in this year’s NBA draft
to pick 6’9 forward Bogoljub Markovic. Markovic is from Serbia and will
turn 20-years of age next month. He played for Mega MIS in the eastern
European ABA last season. That team is based in Belgrade, and Markovic
averaged 14 points and seven rebounds per game. Markovic will play for the
Bucks in the NBA Summer League, but beyond that, the Bucks are unsure if he
will be in Milwaukee next season or play another year of European
basketball. Also, Indiana is selecting Marquette guard Kam Jones with the
38-th overall pick of the draft. Jones played four years of college
basketball at Marquette, averaging 15 points per game and shooting 37% from
three point range. He averaged 19 points per game for the Golden Eagles
last season. And, Wisconsin Badger forward John Tonje was chosen with the
53-rd pick by Utah. Tonje played four years of college basketball at
Colorado State, and then one year at Missouri and last season at Wisconsin.
He averaged 20 points per game for the Badgers, shooting 39% from three
point range.
