First UWM women’s basketball coach passes away

The first women's  basketball coach at UW-Milwaukee passed away
earlier this month.  Erika Sander was a physical education
professor, who was given the job of starting the Panther program
in 1971.  She coached the team for five years, essentially
overseeing the UWM women's athletic program.  Sander remained
close connected to the program for the last 50 years, continuing
to attend games and team functions.  Sander was 84 at the time
of her death.
