The Milwaukee Bucks will be a taxpayer once again this year in the NBA.
Since their overall payroll is above the NBA salary cap, the Bucks will have
to pay a penalty. Sources in the NBA believe the Bucks will have to pay a
tax of $52,500,000. There are eight teams in the NBA that have to pay the
tax this year, with the Golden State Warriors having a bill of almost
$177,000,000. The eight luxury tax teams will wind up paying a total of
$527,000.000. Half of that money goes to the league office, and the other
have goes to non-taxpaying teams. That means that each non-taxpaying team
will receive about $12,000,000.
