Former DeForest High School basketball standout Max Weisbrod is leaving Northern Michigan University and entering the NCAA transfer portal. Weisbrod is a 6'4 guard, who graduated from DeForest in 2022. He averaged 21 points per game for DeForest as a senior, making 84 three- point baskets, and shooting 42% from three-point range. He then went to Division II Northern Michigan, where he had good success. Weisbrod was named the Freshman of the Year in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2023, and conference player of the year this season, averaging 17 points and four assists per game. He also made 84 three-point baskets, and shot 39% from three-point range. There were 11 players from Wisconsin on the Northern Michigan men's basketball roster this season.
