Marshfield’s Trevor Schwecke is changing major league teams. The
Philadelphia Phillies are claiming Trevor from the Toronto Blue Jays
as part of baseball’s Rule 5 draft. The Rule 5 draft allows players to
be drafted who have played at least four seasons of minor league
baseball, but are not on their teams’s 40-man roster. Trevor has
played in the Toronto farm system since 2019. He split time in 2023
between the Blue Jay’s ‘AA’ farmclub at Manchester, New Hampshire, and
the ‘AAA’ team in Buffalo, batting a combined .278, with eight home
runs and 42 rbis, while playing five different positions. Trevor will
likely be assigned to either Philadelphia’s ‘AA’ farmclub at Reading,
Pennsylvania, or their ‘AAA’ team at Lehigh Valley, which plays in
Allentown, Pennsylvania.
