Englund to retire at UW-Eau Claire

Veteran women’s basketball coach Tonja Englund will retire as coach at UW-Eau Claire at the end of this season.  Englund has coached the Blugolds for the last 26 seasons, compiling a record of 427-265.  She has led Eau Claire to four WIAC regular season championships, and two conference tournament titles.  Englund has led the Blugolds to the NCAA Division III tournament seven times, finishing third in the nation in 2003.  She was named the Division III national women’s coach of the year that season.  Englund played college basketball at St. Thomas, winning a national championship in 1991.  She also taught and coached at Roseville High School in Minnesota for six seasons.  Sydney Subke of Neillsville and Reese Grimm of Pittsville were freshmen at Eau Claire this season, and Marshfield’s Hailey Klumb will join the Eau Claire program next season.
