The Milwaukee Brewers are acquiring outfielder Steward Berroa from Los
Angeles for cash considerations. Berroa was recently designated for
assignment by the Dodgers, and the Brewers will place him on their minor
league injured list because of bursitis in his right shoulder. Berroa
played in 28 games for Toronto last season, batting .189 with one rbi. He
has good speed, and has twice stolen more than 50 bases in one season in
the minor leagues. In ‘AAA’ baseball this season, Berroa is batting .270,
with one home run and 15 rbis in 51 games.
