Former Milwaukee Brewer outfielder Marshall Edwards died last month at the age of 72. Edwards was a native of Los Angeles, and played for the Brewers in 1981, 1982 and 1983. He appeared in 160 games over three years, batting .267, with two home runs. He was best known to Brewers fans for a great catch he made in game five of the 1982 American League championship series to rob the Angels' Don Baylor of an extra base hit. That helped preserve the Brewers' 4-3 lead, and Milwaukee went on to win that game and advance to the World Series, where the Brewers lost to St. Louis in seven games. Edwards made only one appearance in the World Series, as a pinch-runner, and he left baseball after the 1983 season. He then became a minister in Georgia. Four players from that Brewers' World Series team have now passed away--Edwards, pitchers Don Sutton and Pete Ladd, and infielder Rob Picciolo.
