Former Wausau Timberjacks infielder Don Gust passed last fall at the age of 93. Gust was a native of Utah, who joined the Detroit Tiger farm system in 1951. He played in 101 games for the Timberjacks that season, batting .207, with four home runs and 36 rbis. He returned to Wausau the following season, and in 48 games, hit .186, with one home run and five rbis. Gust was then traded to the Philadelphia organization, and spent the next three seasons in the Phillies' farm system before leaving baseball in 1955. Gust later won both high school baseball and cross country championships as a coach in Midvale, Utah, and also served as a part-time scout for the Cincinnati Reds for 35 years.
