Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho of Marshfield will undergo surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff, and will miss the rest of the major league baseball season. Daulton is finishing his second season with the Blue Jays, and he hit .214 this season, with 18 home runs and 58 rbis. He also emerged as one of the top defensive outfielders in baseball, and he is tied for second place among all major league outfielders this season in Outs Above Average. Because of those numbers, Daulton could earn his first major league baseball Gold Glove Award. The Blue Jays will not have a timetable for Daulton's return until the surgery is completed, although it is possible that the rehab process could continue into training camp next spring.
