The Milwaukee Brewers are reinstating outfielder Garrett Mitchell from the 60-day injured list. To make room for Mitchell on the roster, the Brewers are optioning infielder Tyler Black to the minor leagues, and designating infielder Owen Miller for assignment. Mitchell has not played for the Brewers because of a fractured finger suffered in training camp. He was Milwaukee's first round draft pick in 2020, and has played in 47 major league games for the Brewers over the last two seasons, batting .278, with five home runs and 16 rbis. Black has appeared in 12 games for the Brewers this season, hitting .235 with one rbi.
