Neillsville's Dean Bryan is among those who will be inducted this fall into the UW-Stevens Point Athletic Hall of Fame. Dean played football and ran track for the Pointers between 1990 and 1995. He was a six- time track and field All-American, and finished second at the NCAA Division III national indoor meet in the 400 in both 1991 and 1992. Dean still holds the Pointer indoor and outdoor records in the 400. He was also a three-year starter at wide receiver for the Pointer football team, and caught 93 passes for 1573 yards and 18 touchdowns in his college career. After graduation, Dean returned to central Wisconsin, and coached at Neillsville and at Marshfield High School. He was the girls basketball coach at Neillsville between 1996 and 2002. Other UWSP Hall of Fame inductees this year are longtime women's basketball coach Shirley Egner, wrestler Ben Engelland, track and cross country standout Kelly Haen, assistant football coach Fred Hebert, field athlete Kyle Steiner, and softball player Jill Van Wychen. The Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will take place on Friday, October 4.
