Brewers sign Quinn to minor league deal

The Milwaukee Brewers are signing outfielder Roman Quinn to a minor league contract, and assigning him to their ‘AAA’ farmclub in Nashville. Quinn was once considered a top prospect in the Philadelphia farm system, but has never hit well in the major leagues. He has played in 222 major league games with Philadelphia and Tampa Bay since 2016, and is a career .226 hitter with eight home runs. Quinn has good speed and is considered a good defensive outfielder. The Brewers are looking for help in center field, as Garrett Mitchell could be out for the year with shoulder surgery, and Sal Frelick is sidelined with thumb surgery. Joey Wiemer is mainly playing that spot for Milwaukee, but is hitting just .199.
